General rule

Fuel added to air brings motion. This is the fundamental formula behind most of the vehicles that travel either in land, sky or the ocean. The land-based vehicles like trucks, cars and buses convert fuel into power by combining it with air and consuming it in metal cylinders present within their engines.

The right level of fuel and air an engine requires generally differs from one moment to another in a vehicle that gets to your garage. This level is decided based on the running time of the vehicle, its speed and many other factors.

In the case of modern engines, they use an electronically controlled system referred to as fuel injection for regulating the combination of fuel and air. But, with the advancement of technology, most engines these days rely on the ingenious air-fuel combining devices called carburetors, which are often shortly referred to as carbs.

What is a carburetor?

It is nothing, but a device that mixes the air and the fuel for an internal combustion engine. It can be called as a tube that permits the air and the fuel into the engine via valves. These substances are mixed by the unit in different amounts based on the driving conditions.

What is carburetor tuning and how it works?

To ensure the proper functioning of carburetor and to make sure that it mixes the right amount of fuel and air in different driving conditions, carburetor tuning is something that becomes important at times.

The type of tuning will improve the efficiency of the vehicle to a great extent when done properly.
